  • The David Potter Cup - remembering a very special man

    Sunday 9th August saw the playing of the inaugural David Potter Cup at Branksome Park Bowling Club. The match, sponsored by Chester Pearce Funeral Service, was played in memory of David Potter, a former bowler at Alexandra Park, and Branksome Park Bowling Clubs.

    The match was played in the form of a round robin, with forty - eight players in teams of four, made up of differing abilities, something which David would have thoroughly approved of. His grandson, and managing director of Chester Pearce, Stephen Nimmo explained;

  • Chester Pearce sponsors a cricket match for the visually impared

    Chester Pearce Funeral Service in Bournemouth has recently sponsored a cricket match with a difference. All of the players are either partially sighted, or blind.
    The company was approached by the Dorset Dolphin team to sponsor the first match of their season against Gloucester.
    Managing Director, Stephen Nimmo was delighted to be able to support this event;

  • Chester Pearce begins piloting funeral arranger and driver courses

    We are delighted to now be piloting a number of new courses to be made available to people within, and outside of our profession.
    Thursday saw the first full run through of a course in association with Dorset Police which is aimed at funeral drivers. The pilot was very well received and we now look forward to making the course available more widely.
    Saturday 16th May will see the first funeral arrangers practical course. Something very different, placing the delegates in a home environment to make arrangements for a funeral and really test their skills in dealing with a bereaved family.

  • Memory Tree a great success

    We are delighted to say how successful our memory tree was this Christmas. With over 80 tags placed onto it in memory of loved ones who have died, the tree looked quite lovely. With the addition of a number of ceramic decorations coloured in by children, we couldn't have asked for a more fitting tribute to those who have died.
    The tags have now been taken from the tree and where possible, returned to the families who provided them, to place onto their own tree next year. A donation will also be made to Lewis - Manning and Streetwise.

  • Westbourne Christmas Festival

    We are delighted to be part of the Westbourne Christmas Festival on Saturday 6th December. From 10am, there will be activities going on in and around Westbourne, including a visit from Santa, and music. The Christmas lights will be officially switched on later in the day.

    More and more we are being asked for different ways that people can remember a loved one. Something personal to each individual. We are delighted to be working with Helen from 'Charlie & Pops' who has developed some beautiful pieces, and is now working on some cremation jewellery which will be unique to Chester Pearce and Harmony Funeral Services. We have a number of samples in our Westbourne funeral home. Please feel free to come and look.

    It was a privilege to host Dr and Mrs Bray from the US last week and run two days of training for our Family Assistance Specialists. All those who attended will progress to working with our Disaster Management teams in the UK and the US, and we look forward to hosting further sessions in due course.

  • ICCM Conference - Scunthorpe

    Our Managing Director, Stephen Nimmo was delighted to have the opportunity to address delegates at the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Managers in Scunthorpe on Monday 29th September. He spoke about our QR Memories project and was pleased that so much interest was generated amongst those present.
    It was a wonderful conference, so well organised, and he looks forward to returning next year to talk about Crisis Management.
